Single Page vs. Multi-Page Checkout

Last updated: January 2, 2026

WeGive offers two checkout experiences: Single Page and Multi-Page checkouts. Each option is designed to support different fundraising goals and donor behaviors, and each comes with its own benefits and tradeoffs.

Understanding the differences can help you choose the best experience for your donors—and optimize for conversion, clarity, and flexibility.

Single Page Checkout

The single page checkout displays the donation steps on one screen.

Advantages

  • Faster, more streamlined donation experience

  • Fewer steps, which can reduce donor drop-off

Limitations

  • Certain donor verification and login flows may behave differently than in multi-page checkout

Multi-Page Checkout

The multi-page checkout guides donors through the donation process step-by-step across multiple screens.

Advantages

  • More polished, structured look and feel

  • Full access to all checkout features without display limitations

Limitations

  • Slightly lower conversion rates compared to single page checkout

  • More steps for donors to complete before finishing their donation

Choosing Between Single Page and Multi-Page

There is no one-size-fits-all solution. The best option depends on your audience, campaign goals, and checkout complexity.

We recommend using A/B testing to compare performance. By testing single page and multi-page checkouts side-by-side, you can evaluate conversion rates, average donation amounts, and donor behavior to determine what works best for your organization.

Implementation & Switching Checkout Types

You can switch between single page and multi-page checkout formats directly in your checkout settings.
Additionally, a multi-page checkout can be overridden to display as a single page using the available implementation options.

This flexibility allows you to adjust your checkout experience without rebuilding it from scratch.
