Requiring Waivers for Event Registration

Last updated: February 25, 2026

WeGive can require registrants to sign or accept a waiver before their registration is complete. Two waiver methods are supported: WeGive native waivers and DocuSign.

How Waivers Fit Into Registration

When a waiver is required, it appears as a step in the registration flow after the registrant details step and before payment. The registrant cannot proceed without completing it.

Setting Up a Waiver on an Event

  1. Open the event and go to the Waivers tab

  2. Click Add Waiver

  3. Choose the waiver type: WeGive Waiver or DocuSign

  4. Configure the waiver (see type-specific articles below)

  5. Save

Only one waiver can be active per event.

Things to Watch For

  • Removing a waiver from a live event takes effect immediately. Registrants who have already signed are not affected, but new registrants will not be prompted.

  • Waiver completion is recorded per registration. If a registrant re-registers after cancellation, they must complete the waiver again.

  • Waivers are not retroactively applied to existing registrations when added to a live event.
