DocuSign Waiver Integration
Last updated: February 25, 2026
WeGive integrates with DocuSign to require a formal e-signature as part of event registration. The registrant is sent to DocuSign inline during the registration flow.
Prerequisites
The organization must have DocuSign enabled on their WeGive account
A DocuSign envelope template must already exist in the organization's DocuSign account
The DocuSign integration must be connected in WeGive Settings
How to Set Up a DocuSign Waiver on an Event
Open the event and go to the Waivers tab
Click Add Waiver and select DocuSign
Select the DocuSign envelope template to use
Save
How It Works for Registrants
During registration, after the registrant details step, the donor is presented with the DocuSign signing experience inline. They must complete signing before proceeding to payment. Once signed, WeGive receives a completion callback from DocuSign and the registration continues.
What Gets Recorded
WeGive stores a reference to the completed DocuSign envelope ID on the registration. The signed document itself lives in DocuSign — WeGive does not store a copy of the PDF.
⚠ Things to Watch For
If the DocuSign signing step times out or is abandoned, the registration is not completed. The donor must start over.
WeGive does not store the signed document — only the envelope ID. Advise clients to manage document retention in DocuSign directly.
If the DocuSign integration is disconnected after the event is live, the waiver step will fail for new registrants. Monitor the integration status.
Template changes in DocuSign take effect immediately on new registrations. There is no version pinning in WeGive.
