Event Check-In with QR Codes
Last updated: February 25, 2026
WeGive generates a unique QR code for each confirmed registration. Staff can scan these codes at the door to check in attendees.
How QR Codes Work
Each confirmed registrant receives a QR code in their confirmation email. When scanned, WeGive marks the registration as checked in and records the timestamp.
How to Check In Attendees
Open the event on a mobile device or tablet
Go to the Check-In tab
Tap Scan QR Code to open the camera
Scan the registrant's QR code
A green confirmation appears on a successful scan. If the code is invalid or already used, an error is shown.
Manual Check-In (Without QR Code)
If a registrant doesn't have their QR code:
Go to the Check-In tab
Search for the registrant by name or email
Tap their name and select Check In
⚠ Things to Watch For
QR codes have no time-based restrictions — they are scannable at any time before or after the event. There is no enforcement window.
A QR code can only be scanned once. Attempting to scan the same code a second time shows an "already checked in" error.
Only Confirmed registrations have QR codes. Pending, waitlisted, and cancelled registrations cannot be checked in.
Check-in requires an internet connection. There is no offline mode.
