Add a Donate and Login Button to My Website

Last updated: April 6, 2026

Once you have completed your Installation, you can add your Checkout URL and Sign In URL to your website. These URLs direct supporters to your nonprofit's donation checkout and donor portal login page.

Where to Find Your URLs

Your default URLs are located in your WeGive dashboard. The exact location depends on which version of the dashboard you are using.

Dashboard V1: Navigate to the Donor Portal tab, then click Customization. At the top of the page, you'll see:

  • Default Checkout URL — Place this behind your website's Donate button. It directs supporters to your nonprofit's default checkout form.

  • Default Registration URL — Place this behind your website's Login button. It directs supporters to log in to their Donor Portal.

Dashboard V2: Navigate to Portal > Profile Settings. At the top of the page, you'll see two buttons:

  • Default Checkout URL — Place this behind your website's Donate button. It directs supporters to your nonprofit's default checkout form.

  • Default Sign In URL — Place this behind your website's Login button. It directs supporters to sign in to their Donor Portal.

In both versions, the URLs work the same way. Copy the URL and paste it into your website builder to link it to your Donate and Login buttons. Once clicked, supporters will be directed to your checkout or portal login page where they can view giving history, manage recurring donations, update payment methods, and more.

Additional Ways to Add Your Checkout

Beyond the default URL, WeGive offers several options for adding your checkout to your website. From any checkout, click the Implement button (located in the top-right corner) to access the following:

  • Link To — A direct URL you can copy and use anywhere (email, social media, website buttons).

  • Embed — An iframe code snippet you can paste into your website's HTML to display the checkout form directly on a page.

  • Pop-Up — A script that launches your checkout as a pop-up overlay on your website.

  • QR Code — A scannable code that links to your checkout, useful for print materials and events. The QR code updates dynamically when you select different campaigns.
